| About
the Borgo |
Dear
Client,
Tricali has temporarily
suspended house sales in Calitri.
Why?
This is to allow
the local services providers to consolidate
their property management and rentals/tourism
experience and ensure that the standard
of services is maintained at a level
that will ensure foreign holiday makers
and homeowners are happy with their
stay.
We at Tricali want
to make sure our clients are not only
pleased with their houses, but that
they are happy in all the future years
with the local property management
services, with the preparation their
houses receive for rentals, and with
the tours and activities such as cooking
and wine-tasting course that are available
locally for holiday makers.
If in the meantime,
if you are looking for a holiday home
that gives you excellent value for
money and offers you access to areas
of Italy where the quality of life
is very high, please take a look at
our Borghi Nascosti and Terre D’Irsine
projects.
We look forward
to seeing you in Italy,
Kind Regards,
The Tricali Team |

The Antico
Borgo villages of Calitri
and Cairano are in Campania,
a region very well known
both in Italy and abroad
as the homeland of pizza,
mozzarella, and of romantic
melodies. It is located
in the center of Italy
- halfway between the
ruins of Pompeii and
the Amalfi coast to
the west and Magna Graecia
to the east. The area
around Calitri and Cairano
are sprinkled with castles,
aristocratic palazzos
and delightful locations
soaked in history and
tradition, ridged with
hills and valleys and
marked by the ancient
trails along which Hannibal
and his legions marched
when setting off to
attack ancient Rome
2,000 years ago. |
 |
Twenty centuries later,
these lands are still
completely intact, untouched
by the massive urbanization
and industrialization
common to most rural
areas in Italy and Europe
today. Here, visitors
can wander around and
re-discover ancient
worlds, visit abbeys
and monasteries reminiscent
of times gone by, enjoy
the Mediterranean cuisine
and wine, bask in the
sun, and fill their
time with exciting sports
and cultural activities.
This combination of
factors make Calitri
and Cairano unique holiday
locations where homebuyers
can go to switch off
and recharge their batteries.
The
"Antico Borgo''
is structurally a labyrinth
of ancient palazzos,
rustic ironwork, marble
stairways and esngravings.
The houses have thick
stone walls designed
to seal cold or warm
air in, making the internal
ambiance more comfortable
depending on the season.
Its wine cellars, meandering
medieval passageways,
chiseled entranceways,
marble engravings, sun-kissed
courtyards and rooftops
are a snapshot of a
bygone area. The Borgo
has the added bonus
of a unique view over
the valley.
The "Antico Borgo
Calitri'' escaped the
industrialization and
urbanization common
to many other attractive
holiday locations in
Italy and Europe also
because its enlightened
local city council actively
sought to promote its
economy by fostering
intelligent tourism
and by protecting the
town's environment and
its cultural and artistic
heritage. In fact, the
mayor and the local
city council are aiming
to restore and rekindle
life into the medieval
hamlet and energize
its economy, while at
the same time preserve
the town's architectural,
gastronomical and cultural
traditions. The houses
and apartments being
sold will remain true
to the hamlet's old
world style and rely
as much as possible
on original materials
and architecture, yet
at the same time are
relatively inexpensive
and extremely attractive
for their price. Above
all, foreign homebuyers
and tourists are welcomed
by locals and by the
town council for their
contributions to the
economy and to the preservation
of the village. |

| The
Various Phases of the Project |
|
The
"Antico Borgo Calitri"
and the properties that
make it up will be restructured
faithfully to adhere to
local materials and history,
with the added benefit
of the modern technologies
that make life comfortable
and easy. Local construction
material will be used
to reflect Calitri's traditions,
and when available originals
(cotto tiles and marble)
will be used to recreate
authentic interiors. The
architectural and chromatic
values of the hamlet will
remain unaltered.
In the
first phase, 30 apartments
of various sizes will
be sold and restructured.
These will be the prototypes
of the properties to be
sold in the following
phases.
Phase
two will involve a series
of marketing initiatives
and promotions, and will
include the development
by locals of restaurants,
cafe's, "enoteche''
(where local wines can
be bought and tasted),
and small retail outlets
where local specialties
and products will be put
on display. All these
enterprises are aimed
at breathing life into
the old hamlet and its
economy, and at the same
time will provide homebuyers,
their guests and visitors
with entertainment as
they pass their free time
enjoying the countless
gastronomical delicacies,
wines, local products,
and activities.
The properties
on sale in phase one are
among the most interesting
in the project and for
sure the most attractive
from a price perspective.
They are priced at a discount
and will be prototypes
of future ones on sale.
Included in the
price will be:
•
Internal
and external restoration
work where needed, electricity,
plumbing, and where possible
the restoration of antique
flooring; Utility connections
such as electricity,
water and gas are not
included and are responsability
of the buyer.
•
Basic furnishing to permit
immediate use of the property
(bed, table, chairs, kitchen, bathroom);

Cairano |
Cairano is situated
on a soaring hill
top with a stunning
view, on the left
side of the Ofanto
river and about 15
minutes' drive from
Antico Borgo Calitri.
The town is positioned
near Sella di Conza
(the Saddle of Conza)
- an important road
that has existed and
connected up the area
since pre-historic
times. Cairano has
a 360 degrees view
overlooking the surrounding
countryside, and the
town is midway between
the Adriatic and Thyrrenian
shores of Italy.
Its
strategic position
explains the many
archaeological findings,
including the ruins
of the castle that
used to belong to
the Cimadoro Lords
(the Lords of the
Golden Summit).
Particularly interesting
is also the Chiesa
di San Martino,
the Chirsh of St
Martin, with its
fine stucco work
and dating back
to the 16th century.
Today
Cairano is a quiet
agricultural town,
with about 450 inhabitants
and about 60 surnames
in the phone directory.
It's renowned for
its wine and its
genuine food products,
and its extremely
leisurely pace of
like. The town is
a delight to visit,
with its cobbled
streets, its many
churches, its friendly
people and its panoramic
views. It has numerous
fruit trees, basil
plants, vines and
berry plants scattered
around the village
- a testament to
its agricultural
ties.
When
there, you feel
as if you are suspended
between time and
space, making Cairano
perfect for those
that want to complete
cut off from the
chaos of city life,
from the daily grind,
and look for sources
of inspiration and
tranquillity.
